Your adventure begins in the captivating city of Granada, home to the iconic Alhambra Palace. This architectural masterpiece, one of Europe’s most romantic monuments, will transport you back to the era of Moorish rule, with its intricate design, breathtaking courtyards, and rich history. Granada’s unique blend of cultures and stunning scenery makes it the perfect start to your journey.
From Granada, we venture into the awe-inspiring Sierra Nevada, home to Spain’s highest peaks and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This dramatic mountain range is famous for its snow-capped summits and picturesque ancient villages known as Las Alpujarras. As we walk along the scenic trails, you’ll encounter landscapes that shift from verdant valleys to rocky peaks, with breathtaking views stretching all the way to the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. These whitewashed villages, with their distinctive flat-roofed homes, offer a glimpse into a traditional way of life that has endured for centuries.
Next, we journey to Ronda, one of Andalusia’s most picturesque towns. Dramatically perched on a plateau and famous for its stunning river gorge, Ronda offers a perfect base for exploring the Sierra de Grazalema Mountains. Walk along fragrant trails and follow an old smuggler’s path through this rugged landscape, uncovering the charm of the pueblos blancos — the beautiful whitewashed villages that dot the region.
From Ronda, we head to Seville, the enchanting Andalusian capital. This city, one of Europe’s cultural gems, is alive with passion and tradition. Experience the vibrant soul of Spain as we explore Seville’s jasmine-scented gardens, flamenco rhythms, and Moorish monuments. Whether wandering through its narrow streets or enjoying the lively atmosphere of its plazas, Seville will captivate you with its rich history and artistic spirit.
Continuing our journey through Andalusia, we traverse the region’s lush river valleys and stunning mountain landscapes. Discover the enduring legacy of the Moors, from their advanced civil engineering to the beautiful architecture still visible today. As we wander along ancient pathways linking traditional whitewashed villages, you’ll marvel at the beauty of Andalusia’s flora, wildlife, and unspoiled landscapes.
Leaving Spain behind, we cross into Portugal and head to the Algarve. Known for its golden sands and crystal-clear waters, this coastal region invites you to discover its hidden gems. Our coastal walk takes us past deserted beaches, fossilised cliffs, and dramatic blowholes, leading to the majestic Cabo de São Vicente, the southwestern-most point in Europe. Along the way, we uncover the rich history and serene landscapes of this remarkable region.
From the Algarve, we travel north to the vibrant city of Lisbon, Portugal’s stunning capital. Here, cobblestone streets, colourful facades, and a lively culture await. We’ll explore the city’s historic neighbourhoods, take in the magnificent views from its famous hills, and savour the unique blend of tradition and modernity that makes Lisbon one of Europe’s most enchanting cities.
Our final destination is the stunning Douro Valley in northern Portugal. Here, the famous port wines await, alongside breathtaking terraced vineyards that rise above the majestic Douro River. We explore this beautiful region on foot, hiking through the tranquil landscapes that define Portugal’s wine country. With each step, the beauty of the Douro Valley deepens, offering an unforgettable conclusion to your journey.
