Grampians the Great Ocean Road

Highlights

Overview

Embark on a journey through the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Grampians, a renowned region of breathtaking natural beauty. Dominated by rugged mountain peaks towering over 1000 metres, this area is home to an abundance of wildlife and offers visitors a truly unique experience. Our adventure begins with a visit to Mafeking, the historic site of Victoria’s last gold rush, where in 1900, more than 10,000 hopeful diggers sought their fortunes beneath canvas.

The Grampians National Park is a botanical haven, bursting with vibrant wildflowers throughout the year. Before European settlement, much of this area was home to Aboriginal communities, and today it holds the highest concentration of Aboriginal rock art in Victoria. Our walks will take you to iconic spots such as Mt. Zero, the Wonderland Range, and Mt. William, immersing you in the region’s rich history and spectacular scenery.

Next, we journey to the coastal splendour of Port Campbell and the Otway National Parks, perfect for days spent exploring diverse coastal trails. Experience the striking beauty of the Southern Ocean as we visit the iconic 12 Apostles, towering limestone stacks sculpted by the powerful waves. We also venture into the Otway hinterland, a sanctuary for unique wildlife.

A highlight of the Otway region is Melba Gully, famed for its enchanting Myrtle Beech forests. During our stay, you’ll have the opportunity to trek along two sections of the newly opened Great Ocean Walk, which passes through previously untouched areas of the former Otway National Park. This unforgettable journey blends coastal marvels with lush, inland wilderness, offering a perfect balance of adventure and natural wonder.

Hotels & Cuisine

Embark on a journey through two of Victoria’s most breathtaking regions, where we embrace “the best of both worlds” – the rugged allure of dramatic mountain scenery paired with the serene beauty of a stunning coastal landscape. Our thoughtfully chosen accommodation combines charm, ambience, and indulgence, ensuring a stay as delightful as the views. With exceptional cuisine at every stop, this journey promises a feast for both the eyes and the palate.

Halls Gap – Grampians National Park

Our adventure begins with a 3-night stay in Halls Gap, nestled within a 4-hectare green oasis on the edge of this charming town. The tranquil setting offers an ideal retreat amidst the grandeur of the Grampians, with lush gardens and mountain views providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation. Each evening, you’ll dine at three of the finest local restaurants, savouring hearty, home-style cooking. This region prides itself on rich, earthy flavours, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy the best of country cuisine – wholesome, comforting, and crafted with care.

Port Campbell – Great Ocean Road

Next, we spend two nights in the picturesque coastal town of Port Campbell, where newly established luxury villas offer a blend of modern elegance and seaside tranquillity. Once a sleepy seaside village, Port Campbell has blossomed into a lively yet relaxed coastal haven, with a burgeoning food scene to match. During your stay, you’ll experience dining at some of the town’s standout restaurants, where fresh seafood and creative local dishes reflect the vibrant flavours of the ocean and the land. Every meal promises to be a fresh take on the region’s culinary heritage, perfect for indulging in the rejuvenating atmosphere.

Apollo Bay – Otway Coastline

Our final two nights bring us to the peaceful countryside just outside Apollo Bay. Set amongst 20 acres of rolling green hills, your accommodation offers spectacular panoramic views of the coastline – a perfect blend of pastoral charm and coastal splendour. Here, you’ll find tranquillity at its finest, with the sound of the ocean in the distance and the landscape stretching before you. In the evenings, you’ll dine at nearby Apollo Bay, where the restaurants are renowned for their creative, fresh takes on classic Australian cuisine. Local seafood is a highlight here, as are seasonal produce and inspired flavours, making your last nights truly memorable along the iconic Great Ocean Road.

For this journey, we provide comfortable and reliable transport in our spacious 12-seater Toyota Hiace Minibus. Designed for both comfort and safety, the Hiace offers ample legroom, air conditioning, and large windows for scenic views throughout the trip.
