Overview
Fall in love with Provence, a region unlike any other in the world. Renowned for its vibrant colours that inspired famous painters, Provence is a feast for the senses. The scent of lavender, pine and wild herbs fills the air while bustling markets offer a palette of sights and flavours. Indulge in the rich tastes of local wines, hearty vegetable soups, rosemary-infused chicken and the famed bouillabaisse served with freshly baked bread.
On this journey, you will stay in an idyllic countryside retreat nestled in Upper Provence, a haven of natural beauty far removed from the usual tourist trails.
A highlight of your stay is a three-day cooking seminar led by professional chef Gabriela Clarke who will guide you through the art of authentic Provençal cuisine. This hands-on experience is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the French lifestyle as you learn to prepare and savour the freshest local produce.
Our itinerary also includes visits to some of the region’s most iconic spots: explore the famous Forcalquier market, tour a rustic chèvre cheese farm, visit a historic olive mill and discover France’s leading pastis distillery. You’ll also meet Monsieur Bresc, a local beekeeper renowned for his craft.
In between culinary adventures, take leisurely walks through the gentle hills of Provence with stops for siestas in fields of wild thyme. Meander through charming hilltop villages and marvel at the stunning Gorge du Verdon, the second deepest canyon in the world.
After each day’s activities, unwind in the serene gardens of your retreat or head to a local café to practise your French with the welcoming locals. Enjoy a refreshing swim, a game of tennis or perhaps a sunset game of boules, the perfect excuse for a glass of pastis.
This journey is designed to rejuvenate your soul, tantalise your taste buds and offer an unforgettable taste of the Provençal way of life.
Hotels & Cuisine
Our journey features one of our favourite hotels, Auberge Charembeau. Nestled in the heart of Haute Provence, this charming retreat offers a picturesque Provincial setting. Surrounded by lush landscapes, the hotel features a refreshing swimming pool and tennis courts, providing the perfect balance of relaxation and activity.
For dining, we have handpicked a selection of unique restaurants that showcase the rich diversity of “Cuisine Provençale”. During our three days of cooking, we will enjoy dinner in the dining room of our own home, savouring the dishes we’ve created throughout the day, complemented by excellent local wines.
