Dear Walkabout Walkers and Friends,
Our 2012 Season is about to begin!
Spring flowers, trees in full bloom, sunny warm days which are getting longer... encouraging signs that winter is over! Although we were not lazy and worked on some new itineraries, we are happy to take the walking boots off the hook again and start our 2012 season here in Europe. Spring in Portugal and Spain
Our first tour will take us into the vineyards of Porto and then the Algarve region in Portugal. This dreamy sense of a life, long since disappeared elsewhere in Europe, envelops one still in Portugal! We will be in Seville during the Fiesta, one of the best times to spend in this magical city!! During our walks we find ourselves amazed at how stunning it all is and the rewards are high for the effort! For those ready to travel but not knowing where to… here is a chance… There is one last place available on this tour! It begins on the 22nd April in Santiago de Compostela and ends on the 10th May in Valencia.Read More
Off the beaten track through Corsica and Sardinia
There are also some places left to join our guided walk through Corsica and Sardinia from the 2nd to 15th May. It will take us passed tumbling rivers, through forests of pine, silver birch and chestnuts, across hillsides of lavender, rosemary, thyme and aromatic undergrowth that the locals call the Maquis, from which the French Resistance took its name. On our coastal rambles, mountain hikes and cultural exploration, we discover the best of this alluring island where we are never far from the glistening blue sea. From Bonifacio we catch the ferry for a short trip across the Straits of Bonifacio to Sardinia. It has glorious beaches, dramatic cliffs, fascinating prehistoric sites and a wild interior roamed by shepherds. The churches, where Christianity and paganism mix, are part of Sardinia's fabulous mystique. Read More
New Magic of Ancient Italy walk
Some exciting news for all those who love Italy - Our Magic of Ancient Italy tour has received a facelift and we have changed our location from Vico Equense to Amalfi where we have found a hotel directly at the water's edge!
Our walks are well above the busy coastal towns, taking us through hamlets, citrus orchards and vineyards on the mountainside. Highlights are our magical walk on the enchanted island
of Capri and now also the famous "Sentiero Degli Dei" - the walk of the gods ! There are still some places available for this tour, which leaves Florence on the 14th May and ends in Vico Equense on the 1st June.Read More
Food Lovers "Tour de France"
Our friend Christiane Philip and Gabriela came up with the idea to organise a « Culinary Tour de France » this year, which begins in Paris on the 30th May and finishes in Marseille on the 17th June (19 days). This gourmet walking tour can also be taken just for 8 days as the Flavours of Provence Tour. It begins in Aix-en-Provence on June 8th and ends on June 15th in Marseille. Chris is passionate about food and travel, seeking out the very best of that magic combination as possible. She has her own cooking school in Australia and together Gabriela and her have decided to combine their talents and offer this great tour! They feel that travelling is not just about fantastic food, wine and scenery, but also about a passion to share the experience with like-minded travelers! After so many years of travel and food - they have that down to a fine art. During this tour, you will discover the best of Paris and Provence.Read More
