Dear Walkabout Walkers and Friends,
Firstly we would like to wish you all a safe, happy and healthy New Year from all of us at Walkabout Gourmet Adventures !
Information Evenings
Our Information Evenings will commence on the 21st February and finish on the 1st March 2012 as per the list below:-
As refreshments will be served, could you please confirm your attendance with Trish on 02 9871 5526 now to your chosen
information evening.
10% savings on 2012 Tours!
We are pleased to see that the Australian Dollar is still holding its value against the Euro - as I write this, it is hovering at around the 80 cent level so it certainly makes a cup of coffee in St Mark's Square, Venice just about affordable!
With this in mind, 2012 should be an excellent year for Australians to travel to Europe. To help you make the decision, we have decided to reduce all our tour prices for
a limited time only by 10%. This offer lasts for all new bookings from now until our last Information Evening on the 1st March, 2012. For 2 people this could be a saving of up to $1,800!
Anyone for Africa?
We have just returned from a family holiday to South Africa and Namibia - it was our first visit to this part of the African continent and we were blown away by the beauty and diversity of the region. We began our holiday with 5 days in Cape Town and the surrounds before we flew to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
From here we joined a 13-day safari through this amazing country. I suppose in many respects it reminded us of outback Australia - the incredible light and open space. On our second day we came “face to face” with lots of big game - elephants, lions, giraffes, zebra etc. It was very special seeing these wild animals in their natural environment.
We were surprised by the high quality of most of our accommodation - from bush cabins, chalets in a Reserve Park to the luxury of an Eco Lodge on the edge of Africa’s highest sand dunes. Most of our meals were at our lodges but sometimes we dined under the stars and prepared our dinner on the campfire - once again we were reminded of Australia with a dazzling display of the southern hemisphere night sky.

Now that we are back in France, beginning to think about our new 2013 brochure, we are considering operating a tour in Southern Africa ourselves - we would be interested to get your thoughts on the possibility.
We would use an existing operator to provide the logistics but organise the accommodation and meals ourselves as we know what our guests expect from us. The length of the tour would probably be around 3 weeks. It would begin in Cape Town and finish at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. The countries we would visit are South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We would schedule it for early April or at the end of our European season in October.
Anyway it is just a thought at this stage and we are interested in getting your feedback about whether you could be interested to join us ???
We hope you can join us in Europe this year and we look forward to seeing you again
at our Information Evenings.
Best wishes,
Graeme, Gabriela and the team at WGA
