Overview
Embark on the Eastern Circuit adventure, a meticulously crafted journey through Europe’s rich cultural landscapes and breathtaking natural wonders.
Our expedition begins in Munich, Germany, where we travel eastward to the picturesque town of Regensburg. Nestled along the Danube River, Regensburg is renowned for its historic 13th-century cathedral and 12th-century stone bridge, built upon Roman ruins dating back to 90 B.C. After a delightful lunch, we continue through Bavaria, crossing into the Czech Republic near Cheb.
Our route then takes us through the scenic Ore Mountains into the charming Bohemian countryside, celebrated for its spas and extensive walking trails. We spend two nights in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), indulging in its renowned wellness traditions before journeying to the enchanting city of Prague. While Prague offers enough attractions to explore for a week, our visit provides a comprehensive overview of its key sights, conveniently accessible from our centrally located hotel.
Continuing east, we cross into Poland and arrive in Krakow. As Poland’s former capital and a prominent cultural hub, Krakow stands on the Vistula River where the Little Poland Upland meets the Carpathian Mountains. We spend two days immersing ourselves in Krakow’s rich artistic and historical heritage.
From Krakow, we travel to Zakopane in the Polish Tatras. This picturesque mountain resort, famed for its quaint timber houses and folklore, serves as our base for exploring the Tatras’ dramatic peaks, alpine meadows, and clear mountain lakes like Morskie Oko.
Our adventure then leads us into Eastern Slovakia, where the stunning High Tatra Mountains National Park awaits. This pristine region is teeming with diverse wildlife and offers awe-inspiring mountain vistas. Highlights include a visit to Scalanaty Pleso and the option to ride a cable car to Lomnicky Stit, the second highest peak in the Tatras.
Our journey concludes in Vienna, Austria. As we travel through the serene Little Carpathian Mountains, we approach the sophisticated city of Vienna, renowned for its imperial history and vibrant culture. Our final destination offers the perfect end to an unforgettable exploration of Europe’s cultural and natural splendors.
Hotels & Cuisine
For our first two nights, we’ll stay in a beautiful hotel in the historic spa town of Karlovy Vary. The hotel exudes Victorian charm, and the wide boulevards and remarkable architecture add to the town’s elegance. A highlight of our stay is an aperitif at The Grand Hotel Pupp, one of Europe’s oldest hotels.
Our next two nights are in a delightful hotel situated next to the river in Prague, just a short 10-minute walk from the famous Charles Bridge and all the major historical sights.
In Cracow, we’ll spend two nights in a charming family-run hotel in the city centre. We’ll dine at one of Cracow’s renowned cellar restaurants, where we can savour fresh local trout or Kings Shaslics cooked on an open grill.
During our four days in the Polish Tatras, we’ll stay in an extremely comfortable hotel in the bustling resort town of Zakopane. Our dinners will be at cosy local restaurants, offering excellent Polish cuisine.
Our journey concludes with three nights in the Slovak Republic’s High Tatras, where we’ll stay in the venerable Grand Hotel in Stary Smokovec. This historic building, dating back to the early 20th century, is full of old-world charm and is ideally located next to the Tatra Mountains National Park.
